Rarity has long been an adventuring companion for Spark Storm. They grew up together, and while they hadn't been as close in school, when Spark Storm reunited with her several years later, she went with him to restore the future of the nymphs. They bonded, grew closer, and she joined him a second time to help rescue a kidnapped friend.

On this venture, however, Rarity experienced true pain and fear as she was briefly tortured by Fire Lotus. Though it lasted for less than thirty seconds, her pain was an eye opener. There were things she wanted to do with her life, and ponies that she would rather not leave alone if something were to happen to her. Rarity finally told Spark Storm goodbye, that she would no longer come with him on his dangerous missions.

This left an awful feeling of guilt, however. Rarity had gained a great deal of respect for her friend. It wasn't an easy decision to make, and it broke her heart to have to tell him these things.
