Nymph Lineage

The line begins with the ten thousand year old Amalthea (named after Zeus' foster mother). With her first appearance in Raison Detre, she and her two daughters, Ampelus and Orea, have spent several centuries trapped in the Everfree Forest. Four hundred years before, they had been chased across Equestria by the changelings, eager to rid themselves of a curse sustained by the life of the nymphs.

Second to appear is the three hundred year old Orea of the first generation. She was just old enough to develop certain feelings when she met Spark Storm, who had gotten himself lost in the forest. Orea was a lonely nymph, often plagued by her cruel older sister. Meeting Spark Storm indirectly lead to the changelings finally finding the nymphs, and also lead to the destruction of the forest where the nymphs had been hiding. Amalthea knew that without her or her daughters, the forests of the world would eventually shrivel and die, so she made plans. When Orea came to find her mother, she witnessed as Amalthea sacrified herself, giving up the rest of her natural life to fill her daughter with energy and age. It was time to find the dryads and ensure the continuity of their race.

An adventure followed, with Spark Storm and a friend escorting the now full-grown Orea into the depths of the White Tail Woods. It was here that a brutal battle took place as an argument among the dryads broke out, just as the changelings arrived to further complicate matters. It was during this battle that the soon-to-be mother Orea, having been pollinated by the youngest dryad in desperation, planted a tiny seed in Spark Storm's mane. The pegasus survived the battle, as did the little seed. 

When Spark Storm left the forest and returned to Canterlot, he awoke the next morning to a little surprise: a newborn nymph. Such a feat of life should not have sprung out so soon. A nymph seed should've taken six months to awaken, but this little creature had been impatient. Finding the unique and abundant energies within the pegasus to be sufficient for life, she leached off these energies and awoke in 24 hours.

The little nymph that woke from Spark Storm's mane could almost pass for a real pegasus. She bore his color, a deep blue, and bore some of his markings along the muzzle and hooves, only green instead of black. The little nymph took to her 'father' instantly. Spark was initially shocked and upset that he'd been laden with a nymph child, but he came to love her quickly. The two also shared a powerful psychic bond - little Orea came to know her father better than he knew himself.
